Bettws Boys and Girls Club is a well established charity working in one of the most socially and economically deprived areas in the County Borough of Bridgend. The Club has been through some difficult times and was briefly closed in 2004, but reopened on a part-time basis with sessional workers. A successful funding application to Children in Need saw the establishment of a full-time club leader and part-time assistant Club leader posts in 2004. Membership of the Club has grown steadily and now (2008) stands at over 350 young people. The aim of the Club is more wide-ranging than that of the traditional club activities.
The mission of the Club is…to assist in the process of moral, cultural, mental and physical development of young people, so as to ensure a smooth transition to adult life and its responsibilities.
