The Development Trusts Association Wales
DTA Wales is an independent practitioner based membership organisation supporting the growing development trusts movement in Wales.
We are part of the UK wide community regeneration Development Trusts Association movement with sister organisations in England and Scotland and a vibrant network of 40 trusts in Wales and 400 across the UK.
Our members in Wales are helping to create some of the most enterprising, sustainable and inclusive communities based on a strong foundation of community owned assets, enterprises and services.
DTA Wales aims to achieve ‘a successful development trust in every community that wants one’ and ‘create wealth in communities and keep it there’.
Development Trusts are part of a fast growing movement across the UK and are now leaders in the community regeneration and social enterprise field. In Wales there are currently 40 development trusts (full members) and 21 associate members. The UK membership is 400 full members and 150 associate members.
DTA Wales Objectives are:-
- The establishment of new development trusts in every community that wants one.
- To provide support for existing development trust to operate well and grow their businesses, community enterprises and services.
- To promote good practice from within the development Trust network and encourage others to support development trusts.
- To support new enterprise opportunities and growth sectors within our movement.
- To run the association effectively.
